After a lot of thought and prayer, I have decided to run for District 102 of the Texas State House of Representatives. I am running because we need a new generation of leaders, with fresh ideas and a bold vision. Texans are tired of politics as usual, and I want to bring a fresh start to our district.
Texans have spent the last 18 months inundated with the mantra of hope and change. However, the reality is that North Texans are struggling with the worst economy since the Great Depression. Families in District 102 continue to struggle with job loss and downsizing, while it seems government is bigger and more unaccountable than ever. The people of Dallas County are looking to believe in something again. They continue to be let down by scandal, inaction and partisan bickering in Austin and Washington. I will give our politics a fresh start by empowering people, instead of empowering government.
The next legislative session will see a dramatic decline in state revenue. Many in Austin will want to make up the short fall by raising taxes on businesses and families. I believe the worst thing we could do as a state, is to try and dig our way out of this recession by burying them in higher taxes. There is nothing more important than getting our economy growing again, and I am determined to do everything I can to get people back to work.
